The Roots of Sweet Ann

Sweet Ann was born in rural Tennessee as the fourth of thirteen children. In the 1960s, she moved to Detroit, where she raised three children of her own. It was in the vibrant spirit of the Motor City that Sweet Ann would find her calling.

During the 1970s, she began working as a waitress at a neighborhood bar—a role that would soon evolve into much more. Known for her infectious personality, impeccable style, and undeniable charm, Sweet Ann became a staple in the community. It wasn’t long before she married and became the proud owner of Pages Palace, a beloved local spot where her passion for mixology truly flourished.

The Rise of a Detroit Icon

At Pages Palace, Sweet Ann became known not just for her hospitality but for her signature creations. From her fashion choices to her elaborate, handcrafted drinks, she set the standard for a good time. One of her most iconic concoctions was an 11-ingredient frozen strawberry daiquiri, a cocktail that became a favorite among loyal patrons.

Guests would come from far and wide to experience her signature cocktails and the warm, welcoming atmosphere she cultivated. Sweet Ann guaranteed that everyone who sat at her bar left with a smile and a story to share.

A Legacy of Celebration

Sweet Ann continued to make cocktails and serve her community until 2012 when she decided to set down her shaker and spend more time with her family. Even at 82, Sweet Ann remains a vibrant spirit, always curious about “what everyone’s drinking these days.” Her curiosity and passion for celebrating life continue to inspire Sweet Ann’s today.
